One of our favorite spots to go to is Beachside Bar and Grill, an oceanfront restaurant that has pristine views over the Gulf, an expansive menu, and a family-friendly atmosphere. You can’t go wrong with getting the crispy fried chicken with spicy sriracha sauce to add a little kick to the start of your day!
Another must-visit during your stay to SPI is Yummies Bistro, a casual and relaxing breakfast spot that is away from the hustle and bustle of the beachfront locations. This popular brunch restaurant looks like a typical American diner, bringing back nostalgia for those who are used to juke boxes and servers on roller skates. We love getting bottomless coffee and an orange-infused mimosa to help us start our day on the best note possible!
Last but not least, the Grapevine Cafe and Coffeehouse is a must-visit for coffee lovers who are picky about their espresso beans, roasting technique, and latte art! This coffee shop does not leave any stone unturned when it comes to high-quality coffee and local food. We love coming here early in the morning to get an iced coffee before the day gets too hot — pair an iced oat milk latte with a create-your-own breakfast taco!
Head Out on the Town
If you are ready for a night out with your group of friends, South Padre Island is a GREAT spot for nightlife! Not only are there breweries and restaurants, but there are tons of bars, grills, pubs, and clubs that will keep you out all night long.
One of our favorite spots to get the night started is Kelly’s Irish Pub on Morningside Drive. This is a must-go bar for craft beer, never-ending pints of Guinness, Irish food (we’re talking the classics, like Bangers & Mash and Beef stew), and bar games that can help you make friends with the locals. Head here for the first stop of a rowdy and raucous night with your pals!
If you would rather have a more “relaxing” beginning to your evening out, then head to Driftwood for a large selection of craft beer, red and white wine, and multi-ingredient cocktails that you are going to rave about for weeks. We love the great vantage point for watching sunset over the sparkling lake before you head out on the town for an evening of drinking and dancing.
Next up, we have the Tequila Sunset Bar and Grill. Head here for great views of the water, good vibes, loud music, and annual events that are sure to keep you out until the sunrises in the morning.
